Tom Foster first pursued his interest in art in 1958, taking an oil painting class on Norwood Avenue in Beach Haven. As a graduate of the Philadelphia College of Textiles & Science, his artistic endeavors metamorphosed to designing fancy woolens for the high fashion market in New York City before operating an automobile dealership in Bucks County, Pennsylvania.
Upon retiring, Tom has revived his artistic abilities, refining his talents through numerous classes including The Jane Law Studio of Surf City, The Visual Arts Center of Punta Gorda. Florida, and the Von Liebig Art Center of Naples, Florida. He is a long-term member of Pines Shores Art Association has taken many classes with some highly respected instructors i.e. Robert Heyer and Tom Rutledge. Through this artistic exploration, Tom now channels his natural abilities into watercolors, some of which you see here. His love of art and natural beauty is depicted through his fondness of recreating marine subjects and seascapes. Mr. Foster is available by contract to paint watercolors of individual's boats and properties.
Today, Tom and his wife, Carol, are permanent residents of Holgate, New Jersey. For inspiration Tom and Carol previously spent a lot of time sailing their catboat through the south Jersey waters, as well as cruising the southwest Florida coast in their trawler, looking for additional scenes to share through watercolor medias.
